What is Semax?
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) analog of the ACTH(4-10) fragment, stabilized by a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro motif that confers resistance to enzymatic degradation. Originally developed in Russia, it is studied as a neurotrophic and nootropic research peptide and lacks the steroidogenic and melanocortin activity of full ACTH, isolating the neurotropic activity of the (4-10) fragment as a research tool.
